Atmosphere: As part of the Globus Family brands, Avalon’s uniqueness comes with their fleet of ships with panorama suites, which are the majority of the cabins on their ships.  They offer floor to ceiling panoramic sliding glass doors that turn your entire cabin into an open air balcony.  Watch the videos above to see them in action.


Their staterooms include Comfort Collection beds and pillows, L’Occtane bathroom amenities, large bathroom with glass doors and if you happen to find yourself relaxing in the room, enjoy English speaking TV with over a 100 movies.  


The ships feature complimentary wifi, premium lounge chairs whirlpool, the Panoramic Lounge with panoramic windows and a dance floor. Bicycles available in select ports, fitness center and adventure host to get your active on.   


Entertainment and Activities:  


Excursions: Avalon offers a variety of excursions at each port that are included in the price of the cruise. Choose from a Classic excursions offer tours of the city with local guides, visit famous sites with priority access, or just explore the local heritage. Their Discovery excursions allow you to jump in and try your hand at painting, cooking, or test your feet with a good Waltz.  Their Active excursions allow you to grab one of the onboard bikes and take a ride, hike up to a castle or kayak up the river.  


Dining: .A la carte breakfast and lunch regional and classic dishes. They also offer healthy options including low calorie, high fiber, high energy, vegetarian and vegan.  Four course dinners with appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, and desert or opt for a casual dinner in the bistro.  Avalon has flexible dining times and dining options.  


Who sails on Avalon?   

Where most river cruises have attracted an older guest, Avalon’s active adventures shorter cruise options are attracting a much younger guests. Avalon doesn’t charge a single supplement for most of their European or Asia cruises so they are a great option for solo travelers.  The nice part is you won’t be the only one.  On average about 10% of Avalon cruisers are solo travelers.

Included Amenities:

Drinks: Complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks with lunch and dinner.  Happy hour with a specialty drink each night.  Premium drink packages can be purchased for a small additional fee.

Gratuities: Not included. Recommendation for crew gratuities is 12 Euros per day and 3 Euros for the Cruise Manager. Tour guides should be extra at your discretion.  


Ground Transfers: When flights or land extensions are purchased with the cruise, ground transfers may be included.  In all other cases, you may purchase transfers for an additional fee.  


Flights: You may book your flights independently or as part of your cruise. If you book your flights through Avalon, you are able to choose from a variety of flights and airlines at the time of booking.  Flights follow the airlines cancellation rules.  


Excursions: A variety of excursions are offered in most ports that are included with the cruise fare.
